The Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) is responsible to the Minister of Health for:

• Setting strategic direction
   

• Appointing the Chief Executive
   

• Monitoring the performance of the organisation and the Chief Executive
   

• Ensuring compliance with the law (including the Treaty), accountability requirements and relevant Crown expectations
   

• Maintaining appropriate relationships with the Minister of Health, Parliament, Ministry of Health and the public.
