Media Release 24 December 2019 |Being in hospital on Christmas Day is probably not anyone’s idea of fun. However, for those patients who can’t be home for December 25, a bit of festivity will still be served up on their dinner tray.
About 700 patients will enjoy a Christmas Day menu starting with a morning tea of a mince pie to go with their cuppa.
Lunch will stay traditional with a serving of ham and cranberry sauce and gravy, roast chicken breast, or a spinach and feta filo parcel, served with mashed or roast potatoes, roast pumpkin and garden peas.
The meal will end on a sweet note with a choice of plum pudding and custard, chocolate mint mousse with cream or fruit salad and ice cream.
One of the best parts of Christmas Day is the opportunity to devour leftovers and Counties Manukau Health patients will not miss out.
A light evening meal will be a choice of a ham and mustard sandwich, chicken salad or a vegetable lasagne topped off with tropical coconut mango and cream for dessert.
Patient meals are catered externally by Compass.
Lunch is served between 11.30am and 1 pm and dinner between 4.30-6pm.
