Free flowers to say thanks a bunch

Latest News 3 April 2020|Middlemore Hospital staff got a special surprise this week when they were invited to help themselves to free bunches of flowers gifted by a local grower.

Blooming Hill Flowers, with the help of TVNZ’s Seven Sharp programme, organised for more than 500 bunches of flowers to be made available to our essential workers.

Due to the COVID-19 Lockdown, these flowers would otherwise be wasted.

Instead, dozens of nurses and other staff leaving their shift said the unexpected floral treat made their day.

Staff  observed  appropriate social distancing, and organisers took all the necessary precautions to ensure  the blooms were safely retrieved, including arranging the stands two metres apart.

Chief Nurse and Director of Patient and Whaanau Experience Jenny Parr said it was great to see so many hard working staff smiling and holding bright bundles of gerberas and bouquets of roses during this challenging time.

A story about the flower gifting is scheduled to appear on Seven Sharp on Monday 6 April.
