He is well known for his commitment to addressing preventable childhood disease related to poverty and for campaigning for equity in healthcare and health outcomes.
The former New Zealander of the Year 2014 says he hopes to be able to offer Ko Awatea, based at Middlemore Hospital, clinical leadership with a particular emphasis on enhancing access to basic health care for the country's most vulnerable.
