Counties Manukau Health is expecting to have some of our services impacted by industrial action by Psychologists who are members of the APEX union.

Partial strike action being undertaken by Psychologists from 8am Tuesday 1 October to 8am Friday 1 November.

Psychologists are a highly valued part of our workforce, committed to caring for our patients.  Counties Manukau Health respects their right to take industrial action.

As a result, some services may be affected. Our priority is supporting patient safety through this period.

Planning for Strike Action

We have put contingency plans in place to ensure all acute services are available. We will continue to provide as many appointments and psychology group sessions as we can throughout the planned strike period.

  • Hospital services will continue to run as per usual, however, there will be some limitations in the provision of some psychology services.  Service Users will be notified if their appointment needs to be rescheduled.
  • Acute & Crisis Mental Health Services will still be available during the strike action.
  • Service Users who have any concerns can contact their Local Community Mental Health Team

During the strike period, people should not delay seeking medical treatment.  If you are, or may be, seriously unwell you should still come to ED. If you have a condition that is not urgent or severe, you should contact your GP. If it is an emergency, call 111 immediately.
