Counties Maunkau welcomes 2023's first baby

Congratulations to Evvie and Chris Lowe, new parents to their baby boy Percy, who was the first baby born In New Zealand on New Year's Day 2023.

Percy was born at Pukekohe Birthing Unit at midnight weighing 4095g.

"He was due on Christmas Day, so we were expecting him around that time-period. We went into the midwife's on the morning of New Year's Eve and she was like oh no, it's probably not going to happen but then labour went really really quick and literally as the fireworks were going off, he was born," says Evvie.

"We are doing really well, yeah, just settling into things and figuring out how to be parents," she says.

The team at Birthing and Assessment and everyone at Pukekohe Birthing Unit and wish this family great health and happiness in their future years together.
