Christmas cheers for our volunteers

On Thursday, 30 November our Patient Experience and Engagement team, with the support and generosity of the Middlemore Foundation, get together to throw a Christmas party for our volunteers.

“It was lovely to be able to celebrate and thank our volunteers for the work they do here,” says Priti Naidu, Volunteer Coordinator.

“We are lucky enough to have a diverse group of people from different backgrounds, ages and cultures who each bring something unique to the team.

“They are a lovely group to work with and it is also a nice chance for them to meet everyone and share time together as we have a few newbies.”

Jenny Parr, Chief Nurse and Director of Patient and Whaanau Engagement, said she was inspired speaking to the volunteers about the benefits of volunteering.

“Our volunteers are incredible, and they give their time for a variety of reasons, some at the beginning of their careers and wanting to see what hospitals are like and others who want to add value and make a difference,” she says.

Middlemore Foundation also expressed their appreciation for the volunteers and provided a spot of entertainment with Lyle Smith, Community Relationship Coordinator, on his guitar.

Our volunteers will be on leave over the Christmas/New Year period and are set to return later in January 2024.
