The Counties Manukau Nursing Awards were held on Wednesday 6 September in the Ko Awatea complex at Middlemore Hospital. The awards were incredibly successful, with 126 nominations received across 12 award categories.
Clinical Nurse Specialist Elham Hajje has always been a favourite with her diabetes patients. The Lebanese-born nurse and her family have been in New Zealand for 25 years. Elham has a Bachelor of Health Science and she fills a vital role at Middlemore.
Baby Vaka Hafoka spent 175 days in the neonatal service at Middlemore’s Kidz First Hospital. Vaka and his parents Ilaisia and Losaline, were at their son’s bedside throughout his stay, from the time he was born 16 weeks premature last November.
